Toronto Insurance Soccer League

May 15, 2023

I want to welcome everyone back after a two-year break to start the 2022 TISL Season.

Here is a quick summary of what's happening this season:

League Start: Tuesday, May 23, 2023 (Weather Permitting)

Number of teams: 9 Teams in Division A

Holidays (no games on these dates): May 22, July 3, August 7, September 4

Player Conduct & Referees Standards: The safety and well-being of our players are of paramount importance for TISL. We believe in providing a secure and consistent playing environment for all participants. With this commitment in mind, we have instructed our referees to rigorously enforce the league's rules. It is essential that every player on the pitch wears a numbered jersey, shin guards, and appropriate footwear for soccer, ensuring their own protection and minimizing the risk of injuries. Moreover, we have a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of verbal or physical abuse directed at referees. Such behaviour will result in an immediate red card and subsequent suspension. Additionally, we emphasize the importance of player identification, as it facilitates a fair and transparent game. Therefore, any player who refuses to identify themselves by name to the referee will lead to an automatic forfeit for their team. We are fully committed to upholding these safety-related rules to create a secure and enjoyable environment for everyone involved in our soccer league.

TISL Cup: All teams will compete in the TISL Cup.  However, with a 9-team Division, the first match will be in a play-in format and determine the 8th team who will compete in the cup.  Our newest returning team (RBC) will play the last-place team from the 2022 season (Manulife).  This match is scheduled in late July and a regular tournament-style format will continue from this point with matches in August and September.

Please connect with your team reps and keep an eye on this website for scheduling updates.

Player Registration:  Team Captains are asked to update their team rosters with active players for the 2023 season.  You can do so through the "Team Management" portal on the website.  The player registration deadline will be July 1, 2023.

Waivers: All team captains have been advised to have players sign waivers this season.  Please do so and send completed waiver forms to the league.

Player Safety Reminder

We would like to remind all teams and players that this is a recreational soccer league for mature adults and in that spirit ask that everyone play the game in a composed and respectful manner.  Be competitive, and play hard but remember that everyone has to go back home to their families and to work the next day, so please avoid reckless tackles and behaviour which could lead to serious injuries.  Thank you for your consideration and please help by reminding your teammates.
